Cath Kidston Inspired

Eeeeeeek, favourite patterns coming up! Cath Kidston inspired!
In case you haven't read the rest of my pages and are blind from the eyelid down; I am a vintage, floral and anything elderly looking fanatic! Although Cath Kidston isn't officially old skool, I really love the cutesie floral tea party vibe she's got going on and think it's a great look to have on the nails, especially for summer days out in the sun!

This was probably actually my first attempt at nail art, most definitely my first attempt at freehand anyway and unfortunately I only got one picture of it :( My right hand ended up so hilarious I couldn't bare to leave it on for more than a day and to be honest didn't even do my right hand for a couple of days after I had finished this one. It wasn't the best look, I won't lie.

This look was achieved by using the old trusty acrylic paint. I love this stuff because unlike nail varnish, it dries in a jiffy!

I believe I got this acrylic paint from an arts and crafts type store, an independent one local to me. These paints are widely available in high street stores such as WHSmith and come in many many colours. I just decided to be lazy and get the smaller pack, thinking I could mix my paints, using my scabby wooden box I keep my polishes in as a pallet. Makes me feel like Van Gogh or summmmet when in actual fact, like you discover in primary school, your excited colour mixing ends up as a deep brown with some primary colours chucked in like a tie dye gone wrong.

These are the colours I used to paint my nails as somewhat of a base coat.

Rimmel - 813 Round and Round the Garden (Great when you can't be bothered with nail  dryage like myself)

I then painted on the cloud type patterns with a couple of coats of white acrylic paint using a small acrylic paint brush. I waited for that to dry before beginning the detailing on the roses.

I used a mixture of these polishes; Barry M - Strawberry Ice Cream 309 , one of my absolute favourites and one of the only "luxury" polishes I have, Estee Lauder - Pink Fever 95 (probably the year it was made it's that old) and some of the acrylic paints.

I'm fairly sure that polish was actually a gift for my Mum when I was about 13 but naturally seemed to end up back in my possession. It dominated my toenails for many years and looking at that price tag from the link above I can now see why! In fact I'm thinking I may use this in a mani in a minute!

I topped all of this off with a cheap top coat from Sally's to seal it!
